FAQs About Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a complete state of physical, mental and emotional relaxation. Hypnosis opens the door to the sub-conscious mind. Hypnotherapy is the process of imprinting your subconscious mind with suggestions for better lifestyle changes. During hypnotherapy, your mind is more open to suggestions and learning, so you can change behavior, attitudes or habits more rapidly. Hypnotherapy is a safe, scientific approach to self-improvement and is often a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. The American Medical Association accepted hypnotherapy as a therapeutic technique in 1956.
Will I become unconscious during hypnotherapy?
No. You will never lose consciousness and will always know what you are saying and doing.
Can I be made to do anything against my will?
No. You will always be in control and will not do anything against your will. You will not follow any suggestion that conflicts with your value system. You will not do anything immoral, illegal or unsafe or anything you wouldn't normally do in a conscious state.
Is it difficult to come out of hypnosis?
No one has ever been known to not come out of hypnosis. A hypnotherapist can easily bring you out of hypnotherapy. You can also bring yourself out at any time you wish.
Are there some people who cannot be hypnotized?
Almost everyone can be hypnotized, once fear is removed, but they must be willing to do it. All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis, it cannot be done against your will.
How will I feel when hypnotized?
The feeling can best be described as a relaxed, half-awake state.
